Preparation: remove old layers
Before you start painting, it is important that the wood is properly prepared. The adhesion of the new paint layer depends entirely on the condition of the surface. Even if you want to paint without sanding, preparation remains crucial.
Remove old paint or oil finish
Use the Osmo Paint Stripper for this. This powerful paint stripper has been specially developed for removing old layers of paint, oil, or lacquer from wood, both indoors and outdoors.
How to use the Osmo Paint Stripper:
- Stir well; do not dilute.
- Apply generously with a brush or spatula.
- Immediately cover the surface with a thin sheet of plastic and allow it to soak in sufficiently – this can vary from a few minutes to several hours.
- Check periodically with a trowel to see if the paint is loosening.
- Remove the softened, dissolved layer with a trowel at the optimal moment.

Correct any errors
Up to 30 minutes after application, you can touch up brush strokes or brush hairs as long as the product is still wet. This prevents unevenness in the final result.

Apply the second coat
